June 2nd 2008

After leaving Mike & Aimee's we drove for a day across Oregon, through the spectacular Colombia River Gorge. We decided to take a scenic loop off the highway but 3 hours and 150 miles into our journey we were
forced to turn around due to a road block - a giant snow mound!

Idaho welcomed us with an overwhelming odor of onions (one of their main crops), and our very first sighting of a tumbleweed.

Last night we camped at Craters of the Moon National Park. A geological hotbed of lava tubes and spatter cones.

We woke up this morning to a clear blue sky, the first of our trip.

After we left the park we invested in an America the Beautiful pass which will get us into all the National Parks including Yellowstone, which is where we're heading.
